Password generator

Create strong, random passwords in one click. Passwords are generated with your browser’s cryptographic random generator and are never transmitted.

–

How to use it

Choose the length and the character types, then click Generate. Use a different password for every account and store them in a password manager.

Formula and method

Strength (entropy) = length × log2(size of the character set). With 4 character types (≈ 79 symbols), each character adds about 6.3 bits.

Worked example

A 16-character password using all 4 types has about 16 × 6.3 ≈ 100 bits of entropy: out of reach of brute-force attacks.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a password strong?

Length matters most: 16 characters or more mixing letters, numbers and symbols is very hard to crack.

Are the generated passwords stored?

No. They are created in your browser using crypto.getRandomValues and are never sent anywhere.
