How to use it

Formula and method
The image is decoded by your browser, drawn on a canvas and re-encoded in the chosen format. Transparent areas become white when converting to JPG, which does not support transparency.
Worked example
A product photo downloaded as product.webp will not open in an old app: convert it to JPG and you get product.jpg, readable everywhere, in under a second.

Which format should I choose?
JPG for photos to share, PNG for logos, screenshots or images with transparency, WebP for websites (lighter than both).
Can I convert HEIC photos from an iPhone?
Only if your browser can open them (Safari can). Otherwise, set your iPhone camera to “Most Compatible” in Settings → Camera → Formats.
