Formula and method
The text is encoded with the QR Code standard (ISO/IEC 18004) using error correction level M, which lets the code stay readable even if about 15% of it is damaged or hidden.

No. They are static codes: the content is stored inside the image itself, so they work forever and nobody can track the scans.
