Scientific calculator
A full calculator in your browser: basic operations, percentages, powers, roots, trigonometry in degrees or radians, logarithms and factorials. Type your calculation on the keyboard or click the keys: the result appears as you type.
History
How to use it
Click the keys or type the calculation directly (for example 12*(3+4)^2 or sin 30). Press = or Enter to keep the result in the history; click a line of the history to reuse it. Esc clears everything.
Formula and method
Usual order of operations: brackets first, then functions and powers (from right to left: 2^3^2 = 2^9), then × and ÷, then + and −. A percentage after + or − is taken of the number before it: 200 + 10% = 220. Results are rounded to 12 significant digits, which removes the tiny errors of computer arithmetic (0.1 + 0.2 shows 0.3).
Worked example
(15 + 5) × 3² = 180 · 250 − 20% = 200 · √144 = 12 · sin 30 = 0.5 in degrees · 5! = 120 · log 1000 = 3.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a percentage?
Type the number, then the operation and the percentage: 80 + 15% gives 92 (80 increased by 15%), 80 − 15% gives 68, and 80 × 15% gives 12 (15% of 80).
Degrees or radians?
Trigonometry (sin, cos, tan) is in degrees by default, as on school calculators. Untick “Degrees” to work in radians; the choice is remembered.
Can I use my keyboard?
Yes: digits, + − * / ^ ( ) . % and the function names (sin, cos, tan, ln, log, sqrt, pi). Enter gives the result, Esc clears it, and the comma also works as a decimal separator.
